SAE J1508 is an SAE International standard that defines specifications for thirty-two types of hose clamps used in automotive applications, including worm-gear and constant torque designs. This standard makes sure the various types of hose clamps manufactured and used in the automotive industry are consistent and meet the necessary quality and performance standards for effective hose connection and sealing.
W4 stainless steel American type perforated band worm drive hose clamp is one of sae j1508 hose clamps. The material is all parts SS201/SS304.

Difference Between J 1508 and Other Clamp Types
vs. T-Bolt Clamps: T-bolt clamps offer even higher clamping force and are used for extreme pressure applications (e.g., turbocharger intercooler pipes) but are bulkier, more expensive, and not as easy to install.
vs. Spring Clamps: Spring clamps are faster to install but provide lower, constant tension. They are not adjustable and are prone to losing tension over time. They are common on lower-pressure automotive coolant hoses.
vs. Screw/Line Clamps: These older-style clamps use a single screw to pinch the band together. They apply uneven pressure and are far more likely to leak and loosen under vibration.
Features
Band: Typically made from carbon steel (often electro-galvanized for corrosion resistance) or Austenitic stainless steel (like SS 304 or SS 201).
Screw/Worm: Usually made from carbon steel or stainless steel.
Housing: Formed from the band material or a similarly sturdy material.
Performance Requirements: The J 1508 standard sets strict benchmarks for:
Pressure Resistance: The clamp must maintain a seal without bursting or leaking at specified pressures.
Tensile Strength: The band and housing must withstand a minimum pulling force without failing.
Vibration Resistance: The clamp must not loosen under sustained vibration tests.
Corrosion Resistance: Surface treatments (e.g., zinc plating) must pass salt spray tests to ensure durability.
